Sunset Over Berlin: The view from the Park Inn on Alexanderplatz

Sunset over Berlin: The view from the Sun Terrace of the Park Inn on Alexanderplatz

I’ve been meaning to check out the view from the Sun Terrace of the Park Inn Hotel on Alexanderplatz since @SandyInBerlin tweeted a link to a post about it on Just Travelous.

So when Luci from In A Berlin Minute was scouting a location for her next video last week I joined her.

The Sun Terrace is on the 40th floor of the hotel and accessed by taking Lift A to the 37th floor and following the directions up the stairs from there.  The €3 entrance fee is a small price to pay for the view it buys you.

And what a view it is.

Whilst I enjoyed the view from the Siegessäule and the Französischer Dom (both of which also cost €3) the proximity of the Fernsehturm made this just a little bit more special.  The changing light before and after sunset made Berlin look even more beautiful than usual.

i’m so looking forward to visiting the terrace next weekend. your post only increases the eagerness 😉
great pictures, thanks for sharing! have you visited the panoramapunkt (kollhoff tower, potsdamer platz) already? it’s 6 euro unfortunately but i guess it’s still worth it.

Luci and I tried to go to Panoramapunkt on the same evening that I took these shots but it was already closed when we got there. Opening hours seem to mean it won’t be open at sunset at the moment, which is a shame. Will still go to get a different view of the city though. Enjoy your visit to Park Inn and I look forward to seeing the results!

    Love that tv tower. Amazing.

The TV Tower is amazing and viewable from almost anywhere in Berlin. I’ve been posting quite a few photos of it on my Facebook page so should really gather a series and write a blog post.

I’ve been meaning to go up there for a while too. Your photos look amazing and now I want to go right away!

Thanks. If you want to go at sunset you should definitely go soon, especially if last week’s skies return. It’s a little crowded but when you find a spot to take in the view it’s incredible.

    Simply beautiful series. Well done!

Thanks Ebe. It’s a great view of Berlin. Luci’s In A Berlin Minute video will definitely be worth checking out. She wasn’t as lucky with the light and clouds but she always pulls something out of the bag.

Lovely photos! Thank you for liking one of my posts on Berlin – I’m happy to have discovered your blog that way. I’m back home now (Scotland) but still have more posts to catch up on. I’ll be linking back to this for sure. We took some photos at the Fernsehturm during the day so this is a nice contrast.

Anabel, thank you for your comment and for linking to my post. I was at the Fernsehturm last weekend and watched the sun set from the top of the tower so will post about that soon.

[…] Much of Berlin Dynaimc though, is made up of more mundane goings on like the daily commute, which I’m sure Berliners only wish could be so quick and I love the end sequence with the lights going on and off in what I think is the Park Inn Hotel on Alexanderplatz (a fabulous place to view a Berlin sunset).
