This past weekend in Berlin, over 2,000 Oldtimer, the cute German name for classic cars, paraded along and parked on the city’s grand shopping boulevard, the Kurfürstendamm, as part of the Classic Days Berlin.
A 2-kilometre stretch of the Ku’damm between Joachimsthaler Straße and Olivaer Platz was closed to regular traffic to accommodate the event. As well as an astounding array of desirable cars, there were stage shows, champagne bars and of course Currywurst stands.
There were, cars, buses, motorbikes, tractors and trailers ranging in condition from ‘in need of some serious TLC’ to ‘maintained and polished to perfection’.
The event drew a large crowd of all ages who drooled over models from Ferrari, Aston Martin, Alfa Romeo, Rolls Royce and Porsche to name a few.
The Ford Mustang featured heavily and the evolution of the model could be seen in details like the famous galloping horse emblem and radiator grill.
The variety of Mercedes symbols also caught my eye.
The bubble cars from Trojan Heinkel and BMW Isetta on display were another highlight.
The whole event was a feast for the eyes and there were hundreds of cars, interiors and design details worthy of the Instagram #asundaycarpic hashtag.
The Classic Days Berlin takes place annually on the Ku’damm so classic car owners and fans should keep an eye on the event website for details of the 2017 event.
